Paradisus Papagayo Bay opened by July 2013
Guanacaste May 12, 2011.
Sol Melia is preparing a new hotel in Guanacaste Costa Rica: Paradisus Papagayo Bay. It will be located in the privileged Bay of Papagayo, in Costa Rica. The plot of land where is located the resort occupies 21 hectares and will have 381 rooms. Sol Melia managed for 15 years another hotel of the same brand Paradisus Playa Conchal, in the same region. In such a way that the new establishment could benefit from the recognition that had the previous one: Paradisus Playa Conchal.
The new property forms part of the Paradisus Resorts brand's master expansion plan, which includes the opening of two resorts in Playa del Carmen in Mexico in November 2011. The expansion plan aims to solidify Paradisus Resorts as a leader in the luxury all-inclusive market segment.
Sol Meliá says the new portfolio addition will allow it to capitalize on the high degree of recognition the Paradisus brand has in the region ? which the company says is due largely to its 15 years of experience at the destination ? and will build significant brand equity for Paradisus.
"The introduction of Paradisus Papagayo Bay to the Costa Rican market is the ideal opportunity to continue elevating Sol Meliá's portfolio, while embodying the vision of our brand as a hospitality leader in the luxury all-inclusive sector," says Alvaro Tejeda Schroeder, senior vice president of the premium portfolio and operations for Sol Group's hotels and resorts in the Americas. "We had tremendous success as pioneers with Paradisus Playa Conchal and the superior product Paradisus Papagayo Bay brings to the region will continue the brand's successful development of Guanacaste as a luxury destination."
